Planned Facilities
There are two facilities planned for this location off N. Shingle Road, a 30-patient male Adult Residential Facility (ARF) Substance Abuse Disorder (SUD) treatment facility and a 250-person Tribal Wellness and Recovery Center. The ARF SUD facility is funded through a CCE grant and the Wellness center is funded through a BHCIP grant.
Adult Residential Facility
From the grant application (here): “The Native American ARF will service up to 30 males per year. The residential treatment provided will be for intense alcohol and drug treatment in order for the individual to maintain sobriety. Our residential treatment will include substance abuse assessment, observation, individual and group substance abuse counseling, 12 step groups, mental health assessment, life skills training, vocational assessment, training and recreational activities. The facility will be a licensed ARF providing long-term care and assistance with ADLs.”
To our best knowledge this facility is funded through a Community Care Expansion (CCE) grant of ~$5,000,000.
Wellness Center
The Shingle Springs facility is described as a “New Tribal Wellness And Recovery Center.” In the HomeCA press release it notes this will be “a 250-person capacity outpatient wellness and recovery center in Shingle Springs. This center will offer traditional healing methods alongside evidence-based therapeutic activities such as equine therapy, horticulture, music, and arts.”
The BHCIP program application for this facility describes it as the following (full application): “The project is a community Wellness Center dedicated to Native Americans who need therapeutic treatment in the community. It will be similar to a day program where farming and horse therapy will be utilized as part of their treatment.” “The service will be open to all Native Americans, male or female, regardless of the county.” “The proposed project is unity because it utilized farming and horse therapy as a form of treatment. This project will expand community capacity for wellness centers with 250 spots, Monday-Friday from 9am-2pm. This addresses an urgent gap in the care continuum for BHCIP because it will fill the individual’s day with person centered activities in the community.” “There will be onsite counseling in addition to farming which can be vocational or recreational. The program will also utilize horse therapy to help with treating SUD.”
