We work hard to not be political with this effort to stop these SUD centers from being built in Rescue, but I want to point out how important the Supervisor is for District 4 in El Dorado County. Over the last three years, as we fought this egregious development, our Supervisor, Lori Parlin, was critical to ensuring the county looked at these permits in detail. Her transparency, and willingness to understand our concerns, translated directly into efforts by counsel David Livingston, and Planning Director Karen Garner, to ensure community input was understood.
EDC Supervisors serve 4 year terms, with a 2 term limit. Supervisor Parlin will leave her position at the end of this year. The election this summer will determine her replacement. If you want to influence the direction of District 4 (Rescue, Cameron Park, etc) for the next 4-8 years, then vote appropriately for your District Supervisor. There is an upcoming debate on April 30th, and I am sure there will be others. Attend these, ask tough questions, and understand how each candidate will represent what is most important to you.
While we won’t endorse any candidate, we will mention that Gina Posey has been an active participant in our fight over the last 3 years. She helped provide feedback on how other California Counties were addressing state oversight, and she helped us identify the right people to talk to in various positions as we navigated this effort.
Educate yourself on each of these candidates. Make an informed choice in this election. Use your knowledge to influence your neighbors and friends as well to help ensure we have the right Supervisor fighting for our community in 2027 and beyond.
