Contact Governor Newsom

The Governor appropriated these funds, and his legislators implemented these laws. I doubt the Governor looks at each project at the detail level, so it is up to us to bring this poor implementation to his attention. I am sure he doesn’t want one poorly planned project to tarnish the larger vision of his $2.2B Community Care Expansion (CCE) and Behavioral Health Continuum Integration Program (BHCIP).

At a high level, his Community Care Expansion program has great intentions, but they are ignoring the “Community” since they can ignore community zoning and build facilities that significantly impact the surrounding residents. As a resident of California, it is our responsibility to ask Governor Newson to hold these projects accountable for fitting into the community where they are being developed.

The facilities that are being planned for El Dorado County are for San Joaquin patients (and others across the whole state). Why would these patients want to be shipped over 100 miles away? Why would these patients want to be placed into a facility that has no nearby services and has delayed emergency responses if they need help? The planned development doesn’t make sense for El Dorado County. These facilities should be placed in San Joaquin County, where the patients can get local support and services, and where the care provider already has a long history. The facilities should be built where they have access to services and the roads support the traffic they will bring. The Governor’s team should be held accountable to utilize these funds in ways that best support the patients, and the communities where they will be placed. We should request the Governor do what is right for the patients in San Joaquin County, and put the facilities into appropriate areas, close to where the patients can get the services and support, they require.
