We had a strong showing at the Board meeting today and Thank You to all who attended or called in on Zoom. I know not all of you had a chance to speak publicly, but our presence was noted and it gave gravitas to our request for transparency from the Supervisors. There were a few hiccups from the process side as the public comment was delayed 15 min, and then the meeting was hijacked by an individual that didn’t feel the rules applied to him, so it shut down for a bit while this individual was removed. Never a dull moment during “public comment” portion of the board meetings…

I wanted to point out that our goal was not to “pack” the room with 100 people today, but to show a critical mass of community commitment to even something as trivial as unpublished meeting notes. We promise that when the next decision pertaining to these proposed facilities comes in front of the Board of Supervisors we will do a much broader public outreach to ensure the wider community knows what is happening, and we promise to “pack the house!”

As noted earlier, the county is awaiting a legal response from HomeCA/Native Directions on the points I referenced in the last blog post. Let’s all stay diligent in monitoring this progress and keeping an eye out for future meetings or actions.

Stay tuned to these posts to keep informed!
