Yesterday marked an important inflection in our battle to stop these misguided developments in Rescue. Supervisor Parlin released her newsletter which had a short article about the proposed Substance Abuse Disorder (SUD) facility development for 3335 Deer Valley Court (now 2761 Sands Rd) and referred to a letter from EDC to the contractor and developer (HomeCA/Gina Wasdyke) requesting permits. Take a few moments to read the letter here.

There are complicated, and untested, legal issues surrounding these grants and projects. HomeCA has continually misrepresented facts in their written responses to El Dorado County (EDC) officials, as the efforts of Rescue Deer Valley, combined with Concerned Citizens of Cameron Park, have continually pointed out. Our county officials did the right thing, appropriately requesting clarification on some key items.

First off, we should all send a note of thanks to our county officials that are taking a critical look at these grading and building permit applications. I will be sending a response in the next day or two, and I encourage you to send your own personal note to Supervisor Parlin, copying your supervisor if you aren’t in District 4, and Karen Garner, Director of Planning and Building. You can find the email addresses here. I will post an updated blog post with my reply when I send it.

This is not victory yet. We fully expect HomeCA to respond to these EDC concerns. Time will tell whether HomeCA can satisfy the questions posed to the county’s satisfaction, but if so, then we must continue to press the county for a complete, independent, Environmental Impact Review (EIR) in order to ensure an independent look at impacts to patient and community safety from both of these proposed developments off Deer Valley Road.

Thanks for your support, and stay tuned…
