County EIR Decision Pending

Since the last blog post, the contractor (Ultimax Builders) for the perinatal substance use disorder (SUD) facility at 3335 Deer Valley Ct (now 2761 Sands Rd) has applied for a building permit. The developer now has two permits pending with EDC, grading and building. If you are interested in viewing the building plans for 2761 Sands (3335 Deer Valley Ct), you can only view them in person at the Planning Office desk in Placerville.

As I mentioned earlier, we are asking El Dorado County (EDC) to require a comprehensive, and independent, environmental impact report (EIR) prior to granting any permits for the facilities proposed for 3840 Deer Valley Court and 3335 Deer Valley Ct (now 2761 Sands Rd). EIRs are standard practice for development that goes outside the initial zoning, or for projects that are in sensitive areas. Our goal is that this due diligence, at a minimum, should be completed before granting any permit. This should be obvious for facilities of this scale, especially given the challenges of these parcels to both patient and community safety.

As we await that decision, we are working toward the next phases of our campaign to stop these developments. While we have a core group of individuals doing diligent work on research and strategy, we need a few more volunteers that are willing to provide written editorials and public interactions on these proposed facilities, and our opposition to their placement in Rescue, CA. If you are interested in getting more involved, please reach out via the contact form.
