After our successful El Dorado County (EDC) Board Meeting, we are awaiting a response to the Senator Alvarado-Gil/El Dorado County letters (links). Our next steps are to highlight the issue to Governor Newsom with public outreach to ensure attention within the DHCS. We are also putting into action a more aggressive next phase, if we can’t get agreement with the DHCS.
These next phases will require that our voices go beyond the EDC Board. To that end we want to make a strong outreach to Governor Newsom’s office, as well as start raising funds toward legal and investigative expenses. To assist with this additional public outreach, we are partnering with the Concerned Citizens of Cameron Park Rescue and Shingle Springs to raise additional public awareness. Their Facebook page is here if you wish to join this group. We will be announcing some joint activities shortly.
Remember, we have three goals with this effort:
- Stop this planned development in Rescue, CA (Rescue Deer Valley Focus)
- Relocate these facilities into San Joaquin County (Our Request to State)
- Change the State approach to ensure community impacts are adequately understood and addressed BEFORE these grants are given to developers. (Advocacy to Elected Officials – Request to State)
Each of these goals have different strategies, timelines and constituents. While the Rescue Deer Valley team works on the first goal above, we believe that every resident of EDC should be aware of the State strategy to override county and environmental controls put in place to preserve the safety and values of our communities. This is just the beginning of developers leveraging this State legal strategy to ignore county zoning and environmental protection requirements.
We will continue to keep you posted through these blog posts.
