Incredible BOS Meeting outcome

The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors (BOS) meeting on this topic Jan 30th was more successful than we could have imagined! Our topic packed the Board room, and all the public comments were practical, with emotional deliveries from affected individuals. I personally teared up a couple times during some of the public comments. We were surprised with statements from the EDC Sheriff and the Rescue Fire Chief, both vehemently supporting our opposition to these facilities. You can get meeting minutes, along with copies of all the submitted materials, at this link here. At some point I expect a video replay will be available if you want to watch this complete session, but it is not up yet as of this post.

We have received incredible support from the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors, especially Supervisor Parlin, as well as support from our key legislators for this area – Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil and Assemblymember Joe Patterson. We also received incredible support from YOU, the neighbors who oppose these proposed developments. THANK YOU! It was very gratifying to see the culmination of all this investigation, documentation and outreach culminate in a packed group of concerned EDC neighbors making well-reasoned arguments to get this overzealous developer stopped. Our voices are being heard!

These government officials all agree that this project seems like significant overreach on this developer and are asking the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) to investigate this project. We hope this prompts action from DHCS leaders to get this development moved to San Joaquin County, where the predominance of patients will be coming from, where the managing care provider has years of experience, and where the county is actually participating in this state program.

We still have a long way to go to get this project stopped and we are already working on the next set of actions, while we closely monitor the DHCS actions to the letters from EDC BOS and Senator Alvarado’s office. We will continue to use this website Blog outreach as a way to keep you all informed. We expect we will need your support for future activities, so stay tuned! As always, you can use the contact form to contact us if you have questions or comments.
